Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time : In the hands of Sanzaru Games, good or bad?

The Cooper gang: (from left to right) Murray, ...

The Thieving Trio

Long long ago, on the PlayStation 2, a series of games hit the gaming scene by Sucker Punch. These games are known as the Sly Cooper trilogy. These games blended stealth gameplay, beat-em up combat and cell-shaded graphics and we’re Sucker Punch’s first mark in the Gaming Industry. Just recently, they released inFamous 1 and 2. Both impressive games. But they sold the rights of Sly Cooper for another company to continue the master thief’s legend. Was it a smart move on Sucker Punch to sell off the rights of the Thieving Raccoon or should they have held on to them for their own?

Well with some background research, Sanzaru Games are bringing the latest entry of Sly Cooper to life. They previously re-mastered all three of Sly’s previous outings for the PS3. Which was generally well-received. So, if they can re-make all three original titles, I don’t see why they could fail this one. The key thing they should be avoiding is adding in new features. If they try and destroy the original formula, then the game will not feel the same. The back story does involve ancestors of Sly Cooper, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to play as them. But add in features for them. Don’t try and destroy Sly’s gameplay which was pretty good as is. The only other game Sanzaru has made for Sony was Secret Agent Clank and that got mixed reception. Granted, it was for PSP.

Sly Cooper has been away for a long time, but with his return from Sanzaru Games, I sure hope it’s a successful one. Best of luck, Sanzaru! I can’t wait to get my mitts on Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time!
