Rumblings have appeared about a new Metal Gear Solid. No, not the newly revamped “Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance” by Platinum, but an entire new chapter for the original series.
It is described as a “Global Development Operation”. What this brings to my attention is since hiring is also occurring in the West, then it’ll definitely be a mesh of Japanese/American gameplay standards. It’ll probably build upon the “Westernization” that occured during the development of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. This is not necessarily a bad thing as the MGS4 play style allowed you to play the “action-route” or pure stealth. It’s been deemed for “high-end consoles and PC” which might be the current generation cons

Along with these announcements two images have surfaced, one with the text “Big Boss Wants You. The “Next” MGS. Development without Borders” (neat Uncle Sam parody), and a more interesting one. This other image features the MGS artstyle along with a character that resembles Big Boss with longer hair (sort of like Liquid Snake‘s haircut) and a different patch on his arm. There is also a canine behind him which matches with the patch as it has a dog on it as well. Speculation has occurred where this might be a remake of the Metal Gear games (note that lack of ‘Solid’) which were notable for having a young Solid Snake as the protagonist and Big Boss as the antagonist. There’s also rumblings that the patch refers to “The Dogs of War” which was a unit during the Metal Gear games which included such characters as a young non-cyborg Gray Fox.
As a Metal Gear Series fan, I’m very excited and cannot wait for more information. They haven’t let me down just yet.
