Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Review

Uncharted

RastafariPrime here with a review on the one and only Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. The sequel to the critically-acclaimed Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Uncharted 3 brings back the story of Nathan Drake as he quest to find the fabled ‘Atlantis of the Sands’. But here’s the million dollar question, is Uncharted 3 merely a piece of scrap metal or does it shine brighter than El Dorado?

Oh, Uncharted 3 shines brighter than you could imagine. Let me start by saying Uncharted 3 is very story driven. The story in Uncharted 3 is bloody brilliant. I, honestly, hadn’t thought Naughty Dog could come back and not only meet my expectations, but go over them. I won’t spoil the story since Naughty Dog nicely asked all journalists not to, but all I can say is I’m more then wowed.

Let’s move on to the graphics. The graphics of Uncharted 3 are extremely detailed. Areas like the Chateau and Desert Village have even the littlest details in them. Graphics have improved a bunch since Uncharted 2. Characters also all have a more defined look to them, making them all more life-like. For example, Elena has a much more feminine look to her, compared to the previous games were she looked just as masculine as Drake or Sully. Clothing is one thing that really stood out to me, things like Drake’s scarf or the folds in Sully’s Cubavera shirt flow just as they would in the real world. Job well done here, ND.

The gameplay of Uncharted really hasn’t changed. But as the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it. The gameplay compliments the story telling of the game which is perfectly fine with me. Added things like the sprint or increase of move for fist-fighting were a nice touch though, I’d say. Uncharted 3 did add in one thing that I noticed. Split-Screen Co-Op. This mode brings so much delight to me since I was a big fan of playing with friends on the previous Uncharted. Multiplayer in Uncharted 3 is also a joy to play. It has improved on Uncharted 2 vastly. The power plays are really fun, and the kickbacks add a whole new factor in to strategically playing Uncharted 3 online. There aren’t many new modes, but the new ones are cool such as the Co-Op Hunter mode. The one thing that I like the most about Uncharted 3′s online are the customizable features. The customizable characters is awesome. It’s so cool to have my own personal character running around and making enemies look like fools. The emblem creation is also pretty cool and how it’s integrated in every map.

All in all, Uncharted 3 has not failed me. In fact, it surprised me in many many ways. There is no deception with Uncharted’s greatness.
